Have your hours been cut, or have you lost your job?

If you have lost your job or had your hours reduced, you may qualify for unemployment benefits to partly replace your lost earnings.

Unemployment insurance benefits are for workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own. Anyone authorized to work in the U.S. may be eligible.

Apply for benefits

Frances Online is the Oregon Employment Department’s online system for unemployment insurance benefits. It’s mobile-friendly and available in both English and Spanish.

July 2025 Holiday Phone Hours

In observance of Independence Day, the Oregon Employment Department will not accept inbound calls on Thursday, July 3, and Friday, July 4. Phones will reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 7.

WorkSource Oregon centers will be open on Thursday, July 3, but will be closed on Friday, July 4.

Because of the holiday, benefits may be delayed by one day, and claimants may not be able to see their claims online until Tuesday, July 8.

You can use Frances Online to file an initial application for benefits or a weekly claim. You can call the automated Weekly Claim Line at 800-982-8920 to file a weekly claim. You can use Contact Us to send us questions.

Adjudication

After you send us your claim for unemployment insurance, we will review it to determine your eligibility. At times, we might have only a few follow-up questions for you, and at other times, your claim might be complex or have issues that require us to do a thorough review known as adjudication.

This page provides more information about situations that might cause us to thoroughly investigate your claim or even to deny or reduce benefits, as well as your options for appealing an administrative decision we make.
